Italy's OTELLO tax-free shopping process requires a qualifying invoice and export validation.
- Resident or domiciled outside the EU; each qualifying invoice must exceed EUR 70 including VAT. Older EUR 154.94 guidance is superseded.
- Obtain the electronic tax-free invoice and request code. Present goods and documents for customs validation at final EU departure, observing the official export and invoice-return deadlines.
- Ask the retailer or refund operator for the actual amount after commissions, rather than subtracting the VAT percentage from the gross price.
